PECO Rolls Out New E-Choices

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Text, email or phone, PECO is giving its customers more choices.

PECO has launched a new online tool to provide customers greater control and access to important information regarding their account.

"We will be providing information to our customers instead of our customers, instead of our customers having to contact us," PECO spokesman Ben Armstrong says. "They will need to sign onto our website at PECO.com/alerts and tell us how they would like us to communicate with them regarding outages, separate from how they would like us to communicate with them regarding their energy usage and so forth."

In addition to the new tool, PECO is rolling out a new 2-way texting program for outages.

"They would text "ADDOUTAGE" to MYPECO (697376) to enroll in the program and then text OUT if their service is out, instead of having to call the company to report their outage," Armstrong says.

To use this service, customers must register their mobile number with their account.
