Saint Joe's Helping Post-9/11 Disabled Vets Become Entrepreneurs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Disabled veterans are being encouraged to take part in a boot camp for entrepreneurs at Saint Joseph's University. Applications are being accepted through December 15.
The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, or EBV, begins in April 2016, and will accept 25 veterans from across the country to take part.
"The only requirements are that you are a veteran that is interested in starting a business, or you've just started a business yourself," says Andrew Colket, with the Office of Veterans Services at Saint Joseph's University. "And you have to be a post-9/11 veteran and be honorably discharged."
The first part of the program is online. Phase two takes place at Saint Joe's and includes panel discussions, guest lectures, a business pitch competition and more.
Colket says phase three includes inkind services, like web site development, tax and accounting services, and mentors who help the veterans through their first year.
