Local Family Turns Grief Into 'Gifts From Gwyn'

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – A local family who unexpectedly lost their 17-year-old daughter is keeping her memory alive through a foundation that helps give back to her school and community.

Gwyneth Ann Rivells had just finished her junior year at Conwell-Egan High School, where she played soccer and volleyball, when she passed away.

Along with excelling at sports, Gwyn was a great artist and a superb student.

In her memory, Gwyn's parents started the foundation 'Gifts From Gwyn,' which they say will provide the school she loved with necessary items.

"Gwyneth was a funny, smart, beautiful young woman who loved her family, friends and her school. 'Gifts From Gwyn' is a foundation started to honor her memory and to give back to the community that she loved so much. All proceeds generated by the foundation are donated to try to make the world that Gwyn touched a better place," her family said.

On November 8, the first annual "Run For Gwyn" 5K and 1-mile fun walk will take place to support the foundation.

The event will be held at Falls Township Community Park.

One hundred percent of all donations made to 'Gifts From Gwyn' will be given back to the community.

Registration opens at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K race begins at 9:00 a.m. Top male and female runners will receive awards.
