1 Dead After Frankford Shooting

By Justin Finch

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Authorities say one man is dead after being shot multiple times in the Frankford section of the city.

It happened around 12:30 am at the 4200 block of Tackawanna Street.

Police say a man in his 20's was taken to Temple University Hospital after being shot once in the neck and twice in the upper back. He was pronounced dead at 1:33 am.

"We don't have a motive for the shooting at this time," says Chief Inspector Scott Small," however from witnesses the shooting may have been committed by two males, the description is only two males wearing dark clothing last seen running north on Tackawanna Street."

Homicide detectives went door to door searching for tips.

"We're getting no indication there was an argument or any type of fight heard prior to the shots," says Small.

Initially no signs of shell cassings were found, prompting detectives to investigate if perhaps a revolver was used to fire the fatal shots.

Police found private surveillance cameras in the area, but it's not known if the shooting was recorded.

The identity of the victims has not been released. Authorities are investigating.
