Wednesday's Child: Ecila

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ecila is 16. She loves to express herself, where it's through photography or poetry:

"I write about my experience in foster care. And the difficult times as well as the happy times. I find that I could express myself easier through writing."

In the future, she wants to help children like her.

"I would like to be a social worker, because I feel like I understand the system more than most social workers would, because I've been through it."

Her adoption recruiter, Denise Sterrs, says Ecila needs a permanent family to help her reach her dreams.

"What family would work best for her is a family that would help her to expound on her future of becoming a social worker. And I think that she'll be an excellent social worker some day."

For more information about adopting Ecila or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
