President Obama Praises Carli Lloyd For Outstanding World Cup Performance

WASHINGTON, D.C., (CBS) -- Carli Lloyd and her fellow World Cup winners were honored at the White House Tuesday afternoon, with President Obama suggesting the Delran, Burlington County soccer star might have a future at the pinnacle of politics.

A hat trick in less than 20 minutes in the World Cup final?

"I had gotten my popcorn, I was all settling in, thinking I had a couple hours of tension and excitement, and poof! It was gone, it was over," President Obama said during the team's visit.

The president wasn't prepared for that kind of Carli Lloyd magic. "She does have an attitude -- you can just see," he added.

One lesson from the trophy grab?

"This team taught all America's children that playing like a girl means you're a badass. And -- perhaps I shouldn't have used that phrase. Playing like a girl means being the best."

Obama told Lloyd, his job's about to open up to which she replied "I'm ready!"

"I guarantee you, Carli knows more about being president than some of the folks who are running," President Obama said.
