South Jersey Officials Receive Special Gift To Help Local Veterans

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Officials in South Jersey received a special gift Wednesday to help military veterans in their communities.

Workers at Kennedy Health constructed 22 wheelchairs and then gave them to officials with Veterans Affairs of both Camden and Gloucester counties.

Camden County freeholder Michelle Gentekmayer says they'll use their wheelchairs to help escort veterans who come out to their special events and memorial services.

"If we do have any veterans that are in need of a chair we will be distributing it to them as well."

Kennedy Health President & CEO Joseph W. Devine says it feels great to help those who have done so much for this country.

"I think that if we can give back to the veterans even in a small way it has a much bigger impact than people realize. This is one small way that we try to work with them in an ongoing basis."

More than 100 workers from Kennedy Health help put together those wheelchairs.
