Police Arrest Suspect In Temple University Armed Robberies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police have arrested a suspect in the armed robberies of two Temple University students. He is identified as 26-year-old Robert Sherrill. He's charged with robbery and related offenses.

The first incident occurred October 15 at 10th and Susquehanna Streets. Police say a 21-year-old student was confronted by two men, one of which was armed with a gun. They ordered the victim to get into his car, but when he refused, the men threw him to the ground before they took off with his phone and car.

Hours later, a 24-year-old student was held at gunpoint on the 1800 block of North 15th Street by two men while they stole his phone, keys and wallet. The suspects then fled, but were caught on surveillance video which police later released. Officials say Sherrill was detained as a result of tips generated from the video.

Sherrill was taken into custody at his home located in the 2400 block of North Clarion Street. Police are still looking for the second suspect.
