Wait Continues For Homeless Parents Longing To Regain Custody Of Their Children

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The homeless family whose 2-year-old son was found wandering in LOVE Park over the weekend had high hopes for a reunion with their children after community support raised thousands to pay for a home. However, they'll have to wait while longer.

Angelique Roland and Michael Jones will have to wait to regain custody of their two and four year old children. A judge granted them two hours of supervised visitation twice a week until the court completes drug and mental health evaluations. The family refused to comment after the hearing.

"I think they're disappointed and that's normal," said Brian Jenkins of Chosen 300 Ministries

Brian Jenkins of Chosen 300 Ministries rallied community support to raise $12,000 to pay for a year's worth of housing for the family. He says they're moving forward with stabilizing the family. Mom Roland is reportedly several months pregnant and dad Jones admitted to having drug problems in the past.

"There's some things that have to be checked to make sure that the children are going to go into a safe environment and I think that's important for DHS to do."

Jenkins says he hopes to find permanent housing for the family as soon as possible.
