Cops: Man Arrested For 7th DUI After Crashing Into Parked School Bus

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Police say a man was arrested for his seventh DUI after allegedly crashing into a parked school bus.

Authorities say around 10:10 a.m. Thursday, troopers responded to a bus yard in Newark for the report of an unresponsive driver behind the wheel.

Upon arrival, police say they found John R. Owens, 57, passed out in a vehicle, which had entered a bus yard and struck the rear of a school bus.

Police say Owens entered the lot, struck the school bus, then exited the lot onto Stanton-Christiana Road. Officials say he then re-entered the bus lot and struck a chain link fence before passing out in the vehicle.

Authorities say Owens was removed from the car by EMS and taken to Christiana Hospital for evaluation.

Police say a DUI investigation ensued and troopers arrested Owens for his 7th offense DUI, driving while suspended and no valid proof of insurance.
