Preview: Friday Night Kickoff For DelVal Aggies

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- For the second time this season, the Division III Delaware Valley University Aggies will kickoff on a Friday night as they visit FDU-Florham in Madison, New Jersey.

The Aggies will be looking for a better result than their first Friday night kickoff when they lost at Wilkes, 12-7, back on September 11th.

That represents the only loss for the Aggies here in 2015. They will bring a 3-1 record (2-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference) into the match-up with FDU-Florham. Last week, DelVal beat King's College, 26-10, rushing for 391 yards and four touchdowns in the process. Defensively, the Aggies held King's to just 28 yards rushing and they sacked the quarterback six times.

"We had some guys really step up," DelVal head coach Duke Greco tells KYW Newsradio. "The one thing for us this year, on defense, we've been very consistent. We've had consistent effort every week defensively. And we've been leaning on those guys because they're an older group for us and we need them every week and they've been there every week. On offense, right now, we're young, we're unselfish, but it's just been different every week. Week #1 we threw it pretty well, the last two weeks we ran it well by committee. We're a team oriented group and we're unselfish and every week's been something new for us."

Last season the Aggies hammered FDU-Florham, 55-7, in Doylestown. But that Devils squad went 0-10. This year they are 2-1, including a win over that Wilkes team that beat the Aggies, and Greco says they pose a big challenge.

"Athletic," Greco says. "Best they've been in a while. They scare me. They have some guys on offense that can make some plays, especially at the receiver position. Defensively, they are very sound and they are aggressive. It's going to be a test."

Friday's game will kickoff at 7:00pm.
