Pa. Lawmakers To Vote On Wolf Tax Proposals

By Tony Romeo

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- With Pennsylvania about to begin its fourth month without a budget, leaders of the Republican majority in the legislature said today they plan to put Democratic Governor Tom Wolf's tax proposals up for a vote next week.

Appearing on Pittsburgh sister station KDKA Tuesday, Governor Wolf said he believes many Republican lawmakers want a real budget and that the only thing standing in the way is GOP leadership. So Republican Dave Reed, the House majority leader, says the House will put the governor's tax proposals before members.

"Next Wednesday, we will put the governor's most recent tax package before the House for consideration. I personally will ask each of our members to meet with the governor or talk with governor upon his request to hear his rationale."

Reed says he does not believe there are enough votes in the House to pass the tax proposals. Governor Wolf on Tuesday vetoed bills sent to him by the legislature that would have provided about four months of funding for schools and human service agencies retroactive to July.
