Cops: Rabid Fox Attacks, Bites NJ Resident

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – While trying to get into a home, an aggressive fox bit and attacked a resident, police say.

Authorities say on September 27, officers responded to the area of Lees Lane in the Scullville section of the township.

Police say they received word of a fox who was acting strange and aggressive.

Authorities say the animal bit and attacked a resident while trying to get into a home.

A neighbor then shot the fox, police say.

The animal was tested by the Department of Health and results came back positive for rabies.

Police are advising residents who observe an animal acting strange to avoid contact and notify police and health departments.

Additionally, officials advice the public to make sure their pets are vaccinated for rabies.
