Artist Showcases Work On Cathedral Basilica Dome To Welcome Pope To Philadelphia

By David Spunt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Dome on top of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul lit up Monday evening with artwork that depicts the struggle felt by homeless people around the world.

Artist Meg Saligman is behind the video artwork on the dome. She's also behind the "Knotted Grotto" on the side of the basilica. Both art displays have the same message.

"People are working together, celebrating together and coming together. It's exciting," Saligman told Eyewitness News.

Saligman is working with the Mercy and Justice initiative in Philadelphia. Her artwork will be projected on the dome from dusk until 12:30 a.m. every night until Sunday.
