Researchers Say Aspirin May Help Prevent Heart Disease And Cancer

ROCKVILLE, MD (CBS) -- Could aspirin be used to fight cancer?

For the first time ever, experts are recommending a daily low dose of aspirin to help prevent both heart disease and cancer.

They say aspirin taken over a 10-year period may help high-risk patients between 50 and 69.

However, aspirin is a blood thinner, so doctors worry it can lead to internal bleeding.

They recommend consulting a physician before taking the medication.
