Popular Blog 'Philly Love Notes' Signs Off

By KYW Social Media Editor Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A popular blog filled with love letters to the city has published its last post.

After 3 and a half years and 300 posts, Philly Love Notes is saying goodbye. The blog is a collection of love letters people have written to different spots in the city but its founder Emma Fried-Cassorla says it has become much more than that.

"I started it very self-servingly," says Cassorla, "I wanted to meet new people and see new places, it then took on a much bigger purpose which was to try and help change the conversation about the city and how people talk about themselves when they live here."

Cassorla was a neuroscientist when she started Philly Love Notes but credits the blog for helping her land her current gig-- communications manager at the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation .

"One of my favorite posts is from my friend who wrote a very short and very amazing love letter to The El Bar about how she was going to meet her future ex-husband there." says Cassorla. "There's also, on the exact opposite spectrum one written by Chris Bartlett the executive director of the William Way Community Center, he wrote it to one of the churches on 13th street because it was the only churches that would reside over funerals of AIDS patients in the 80's."

Although there won't be updates, Philly Love Notes' archives will remain online for people to enjoy.
