PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Tens of thousands of tickets for two Papal events were made available and snatched up within minutes on Wednesday.

The World Meeting of Families says 10,000 free tickets for the Papal Mass on Sunday the 27th were made available for free online Wednesday on a first come, first served basis and were gone in 30 seconds.

Now, scalpers are trying to turn the tickets into an opportunity.

On the online auction site eBay, tickets are listed for hundreds and even thousands of dollars.

One auction was asking $450 for one ticket the the Papal Mass at 4pm on Sunday, September 27th on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Another seller is asking for $1,600 for a four-pack of tickets to the mass.

And there’s even a listing for what’s called “The ultimate Philadelphia Papal experience.” The seller is asking for $5,000 for a number of Papal mass tickets, SEPTA passes, maps, and stay with a local family.

The tickets to the Papal Mass were given away by the World Meeting of Families for free on Wednesday.
