Woman Gets Prison Term For Role In Gun Trafficking Scheme

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a South Carolina woman has been sentenced to seven months in prison for her role in a scheme to traffic numerous guns into New Jersey.

Katelynn Schippnick will also have to serve three years of supervised release once she's freed from prison. The 25-year-old Greeley resident, who was sentenced Friday, had pleaded guilty to conspiring to deal firearms without a license.

Prosecutors say the conspiracy occurred between April 2013 and July 2014.

They say Schippnick conspired with four New Jersey men and other people to illegally sell the firearms, including handguns, shotguns and an assault rifle.

After other conspirators obtained the guns from pawn shops, gun stores and other sources in South Carolina, Schippnick brokered and arranged the sales and brought the weapons to New Jersey.
