Eagles Part Ways With Tim Tebow

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tebow Time has expired in Philadelphia. Eagles head coach Chip Kelly announced the team's 53-man roster on Saturday and it did not include quarterback Tim Tebow.

"We felt Tim has progressed," Kelly said, "but we didn't feel he was good enough to be the (No.) 3 right now."

Tebow was hoping to make a return to the NFL after spending two years away from the league. Chip Kelly and his high-speed offense seemed like the proper attack for Tebow to make a return, but that was not the case.

Tebow finished the preseason with 286 passing yards on 36 attempts. He completed 58.3 percent of his passes and threw for two touchdowns.

"He really improved his throwing motion from when he was throwing a couple of years ago," Kelly said. "He worked extremely hard on it and deserves a lot of credit for that."

Tebow also added a rushing touchdown to go along with 82 rushing yards.

His strongest showing came in the final preseason game on Thursday night as he passed for 189 yards on 11-17 passing with two touchdowns and one interception.

Tebow did not fail to leave a mark while in Philadelphia.

His jersey has proven to be one of the team's top sellers, falling only behind DeMarco Murray.
