Driver Arrested In Montgomery County For Allegedly Shooting Heroin While Driving
By Jim Melwert
LIMERICK Twp., Pa. (CBS) -- Limerick Township Police make an arrest, after they get a 9-1-1 call about a driver on Route 422, allegedly shooting heroin while driving.
Limerick Township police chief William Albany says a motorist called 9-1-1 when he saw the erratic driver injecting himself while behind the wheel.
"Stayed on the line with the 9-1-1 operator and directed our officers to the car."
In that car, Chief Albany says they found drug paraphernalia, heroin and marijuana. The driver and two passengers were taken into custody, their names are not being released as full charges are pending additional tests.
Chief Albany says it's an unfortunate reminder to always pay attention while driving. But he says heroin abuse is no laughing matter:
"This week alone we had a heroin death of a 21-year-old, and we had a save where one of our officers administered Naloxone to a 27-year-old."
