Philadelphia Bound Flight Seats Still Available For Papal Weekend

By Marcy Norton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There are still plenty of seats available on flights headed into Philadelphia on the weekend Pope Francis comes to town.

It's a busy weekend, but not unusually busy, according to American Airlines spokesperson Victoria Lupica:

"We have not increased our flights for the weekend of the papal visit. We haven't had to."

Flights into the city on American, US Airways and Delta that weekend still have open seats for people who want to come here to see Pope Francis or for any other reason.

Lupica says while a large number of travelers are flying in for the World Meeting of Families, they're also coming by other modes of transportation, so flights aren't overloaded:

"The influx, I think, of travel, is on the weekend, but we have not seen an increase in air travel, any different than a normal weekend."

She says travelers who still want to book flights can do so as they normally would, but they should leave extra time to travel to and from the airport.
