Self Incrimination

By Amy E. Feldman

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A woman in Lancaster, Pennsylvania called police to report that she'd been asleep when she awoke to find an intruder, who raped her.  As part of the investigation, police got hold of her Fitbit, a fitness tracking device that had recorded the fact that she was awake and walking around at the time she claimed she was asleep and she's now been charged with filing a false report.

It's not news that when you record yourself, your own record will speak volumes in lawsuits and other legal matters. It's the reason divorce attorneys tell you not to post anything on social media. But what is mindboggling is the number of new technologies that allow people to record their own actions so a word to the wise—and the fit—whatever you say, post, reveal, or otherwise record, can and will be held against you in a court of law.
