Soul One Win Away From The Arena Bowl

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are just four teams left standing in the Arena Football League playoffs and one of them is the Philadelphia Soul.

On Sunday, the Soul will try to punch their ticket to the Arena Bowl as they host the Jacksonville Sharks in the American Conference title game.

Philadelphia beat Cleveland last week in South Philadelphia, 47-35, to advance. This was the fourth time in four tries this season that the Soul defeated the Gladiators.

"It was real satisfying," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "We played well all year against them defensively and that game was no different. We had a great pass rush all night long. Our secondary was all over their receivers and we made them make some bad decisions and we came up with the ball (forced four turnovers). We made plays. We've had games like that before, we've had exact games like that but we just didn't make the plays when they were given to us. That's nice to see in the playoffs that we're making them."

Listen to the entire interview with the Soul's Clint Dolezel:

Jacksonville got here by beating Orlando in the conference semifinals, 55-33. The Sharks went 11-8 during the regular season and Dolezel says they are loaded with talent.

"Most of it's on offense to tell you the truth," Dolezel says. "They've got one of the top three quarterbacks in Tommy Grady, he's had a great year all the way around. They've got the best running back in the league in (former Soul star) Derrick Ross, who we all know well, the best pass line, (Joe) Hills, Tiger Jones at receiver. So they've got an all-star cast over there."

Philadelphia suffered just three losses during the regular season. Two of them came against this Jacksonville team, both in Florida.

"We weren't happy the way we played at their place, the two losses we had at their place," Dolezel says. "We had both games in hand if we just sealed the deal and we couldn't get it done. We didn't like how they kind of rubbed our nose in it after the game, either. So, yeah, I don't know if you want to say revenge, but we will definitely be up for this football game."

Sunday's game at the Center will kickoff at 5:00pm.
