KYW Flashback: Earthquake Rattles Delaware Valley

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It was a day to remember. The earth shifted under Philadelphia. City Hall was evacuated. Workers left their suddenly moving desks in Center City office towers.

Just 4 years ago, the region found itself in the middle of a window shattering earthquake that was centered in Virginia and felt as far north as Rhode Island.

KYW was inundated with calls from anxious listeners. Cell phone and landline telephone networks were jammed as people who felt the tremors were trying to contact loved ones.

When the quake stopped, there was some broken glass and cracked pavement, but the question that had concerned the region for decades was answered. The Limerick Nuclear Plant was just fine.
