Maikel Franco 'Lucky' Wrist Not Broken

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Maikel Franco survived a scare on Tuesday night, after being hit by a pitch in his first at-bat.

Franco was hit in the left wrist by Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, but luckily nothing is broken. Franco was diagnosed with a contusion after x-rays came back negative.

"It's still pretty sore," Franco told reporters after the game. "When it hit me, I was worried something bad happened. I was scared. I thought it might be broken. I'm lucky."

Franco (.277, 13 homers, 48 RBIs) is expected to miss at least Wednesday's series finale in Arizona. The Phillies are off on Thursday.
