Bucks County Medical Center, CHOP Team Up To Help Patients 24/7

By Lynne Adkins

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) - St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne has partnered with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to provide around the clock coverage for young patients in Bucks County.

The partnership will have doctors from CHOP working at St. Mary's, caring for sick newborns and providing coverage in the pediatric emergency care center.

St. Mary President and CEO Greg Wozniak says last year, more than 17,000 children were treated in the emergency center:

"About half percent of the time we had our emergency pediatric center covered with pediatric physicians and the other 50-percent of the time were emergency medicine physicians that treated both adults and pediatric patients. And now we'll have 100-percent pediatric physician coverage."

He says this will allow more young patients to receive the care they need without leaving Bucks County.
