Weather: Another Sticky Day Before Brief Break

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Expect yet another steamy, oppressive day in Philadelphia. While highs will only top out in the low 90s, humidity will make it feel close to 100° yet again. Our Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday evening for Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.

Thursday will feature clouds and some sun, with the potential for some afternoon wet weather. A cold front is currently barreling down on the Delaware Valley, and bringing with it showers and thunderstorms later today.

It will impact the western counties between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., city and suburbs between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and shore points between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The biggest issue with these storms will be gusty winds, but there will also be frequent lightning and downpours as well. Don't cancel your outdoor plans, but head in doors immediately if you hear thunder or see lightning.

Once they pass, skies will clear and humidity will lower, setting up a mainly sunny and hot weekend.
