PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Chaka Fattah maintains his innocence. In the meantime, his longtime Congressional colleague says he is saddened by Fattah’s indictment.

Congressman Bob Brady says one immediate impact of the indictment is that Fattah has resigned as Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Commerce Subcommittee. That move Brady says will affect Philadelphia right away.

“It’s a major blow to the city of Philadelphia to have somebody with the seniority and his clout, and all the money and resources he brought back in the past, will not be happening now in the future.”

Brady says Fattah has been his friend for 30 years. He says Fattah is innocent until proven guilty, but Brady admits if the allegations are true it’s extremely damaging.
