Eagles Fans Named NFL's Most Hated Fan Base

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- They hate us 'cause ain't us!

When I was a freshman at Penn State I went to a T.I. concert at the Bryce Jordan Center (I know, I know, but it was five dollars) and the philosophical rapper said something that stuck with me.

"If you don't have any haters, you ain't doin' anything right."

Now, I am applying that quote to Eagles fans, who were named the NFL's most hated fan base by SI.com on Thursday. The article noted, of course, the almost-50-year-old Santa Claus incident, the judge who was hired for the Vet, and the cheering of a motion-less Michael Irvin back in 1999.

"Every fan base is unfortunately defined by the minority who do stupid stuff like this, but it seems that Eagles fans are more defined than any other group," the non-scientific article noted.

I totally get it. When the most passionate NFL fans come from a city that has never won a Super Bowl, it can be annoying. But hey, we're starving for a football title, and it's not our fault the Eagles haven't given us one yet.

Every year we'll be there on Sunday's, louder than every other city, without any gimmicks. No video instructions to cheer, no crowd games, and no extra noised pumped into the stadium. Just straight football fans dressed in green, yelling in support of the football team we love.

Let 'em hate, Philly. It's no coincidence the New England Patriots were named most hated team and Bill Belichick was named the most hated coach.
