Body Of Williamstown High School Student Found In Monroe Township, NJ Lake

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police in Monroe Township have released more details about a teen who disappeared while swimming on Wednesday.

Darius Boyer, a 17-year-old student at Williamstown High School, was found dead in the lake between Piney Hollow Road and the Atlantic County Line on Thursday.

Crews had initially been dispatched to the area to search for Boyer on Wednesday, after his friends said he didn't make it to shore while swimming in the lake.

The victim's friend, Tom Sprenger says, "I'm not taking it good. Last night I was at the football field and I was crying there."

Emergency personnel first searched the area on Wednesday evening but were unable to find Boyer. The search resumed Thursday morning and crews found the teen's body around 1 p.m.

"Blue Hole, it's like people go out there a lot because people have fires out there to hang out, some people go swimming, but there is under tow and I guess he got caught by it."

People who live near the Blue Hole say it is a nuisance.

Corine Stark says, "There's been fights and arguments, and I'm sure there's been drug issues and things like that. But the police are on it constantly trying to keep everybody safe."

Stark says most people teach their kids not to swim in the lake, which is off limits, but over the years there have been several drownings.

"Of course the kids jump the fence and that's what happened. It's sad, it's very sad."

Police say Boyer will have an autopsy, but do not suspect foul play.

There is a vigil for Boyer at the Williamstown High School football field scheduled for 9 p.m.
