Police Investigate Reported Violent Sexual Assault In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating after a female reported a man physically and sexually assaulted her in the Kensington section of city on June 29.

The 51-year-old woman says an unknown male approached her on the 1100 block of E. Venango Street and started to engage her in conversation, telling her "he was looking for a girlfriend."

The female told police she began to walk away when the male struck her in the back of her head with his fist and directed her to an alley.

Police say she reported once in the alley, he demanded she remove her clothing and when she refused he attacked her until she complied.

Authorities say she reported he sexually assaulted her, then gathered her clothing and fled the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, in his 30s, 5'6"-5'7" tall, with a medium build. Authorities say he was wearing a red and white striped short-sleeved shirt, red sweatpants and black square framed glasses.

Anyone with any information on the suspect is urged to contact Philadelphia Police.
