By David Spunt

WHITEHALL Twp., Pa., (CBS) --  Residents in a Lehigh County township are under a state of emergency following Tuesday's storms. Whitehall Township residents spent much of the afternoon and evening without power.

Eyewitness News spoke to resident Jenny Dannecker who lost part of her roof due to the storm. She and her parents made it to the basement at the right time.

"A few seconds later (we) heard the loud crash of the roof coming down," she said.

Dannecker is not alone. Several homes also had roof damage. Many neighbors also lost large trees in their yards.

"Devastating," Frank Knopf told Eyewitness News.

Knopf moved into the neighborhood 43 years ago and says this storm is the worst he has seen in the neighborhood.

"This was a complete white out with all the hail and everything," he said.

Officials told Eyewitness News there were no serious injuries from the storm. Power crews continued working late into the evening to restore power.
