Mudiay: Fun To Play With Noel, Embiid, And 'Young Group' In Philly

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Suddenly, with D'Angelo Russell the favorite and Kristaps Porzingis the polarizing upside project, Emmanuel Mudiay has become an after thought for most Sixers fans as Thursday night's draft approaches.

However, the 6'5" explosive point-guard may certainly be selected by Philadelphia with pick No. 3. And while Sixers fans might be lukewarm on Mudiay, the 19-year-old is not at all tepid about joining the Sixers.

"When I went over there I had a great visit," Mudiay told ESPN's Andy Katz of the Sixers. "The general manager Sam Hinkie, he's a real good guy. The team is real young. I have a good relationship of Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid. So, I know they're expecting a lot of things coming up for the upcoming season. Going over there would be fun playing with a young group of guys and get a chemistry and hopefully win a championship."

When asked about the imprint he hopes to leave on the NBA after year one, Mudiay humbly talked about his desire to win.

"That boy plays hard," Mudiay said of himself. "He loves to win. He's a competitor. He's gonna do anything he can to help his team win."
