Report: Sixers Turned Down Trade For Nerlens Noel

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Do you think Sam Hinkie is still laughing at this reported offer?

The Celtics, looking to move up in Thursday's draft, offered the Sixers Marcus Smart, pick No. 16, and pick No. 28 for Nerlens Noel and pick No. 3 according to the LA Times.

The Sixers, of course, were not interested.

After missing the 2013-14 season due to injury, Noel was the only NBA player to finish top 10 in steals and blocks per game last season. Noel averaged 9.9 points and 8.1 rebounds, to go along with just under two blocks and two steals per game.

Smart, the sixth overall pick of the Celtics in 2014, averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 27.0 minutes per game as a rookie.

Furthermore, the report states that "multiple teams" are looking to move up in the draft. The Sixers have their No. 3 pick plus five second-round picks and with Hinkie pressing the buttons, who knows what will happen on Thursday night.
