Gov. Christie's Approval Rating Now Lower Than Low-Rated Corzine

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Bad polling numbers these days for New Jersey governor Chris Christie are no real surprise. But the latest poll puts him at a low that could be considered symbolic.
Chrstie has always asserted he doesn't pay attention to polls, good or bad. But it's hard to believe he would ignore the latest tally from the Fairleigh Dickinson Public Mind poll.
Poll director Krista Jenkins notes that Christie's approval rating has dipped to 30 percent, a low-water mark for him.
"He has now gone beyond where Jon Corzine was when he was governor," she notes.
Corzine's lowest favorability number in the poll, in June 2009, was 36 percent.
Among the well-known reasons for Christie's fall from public grace are the state pension crisis, Bridgegate, and his absence from the state as he flirts with a presidential run.
But if it's any comfort for the GOP, the favorability number for the Democratically-controlled state legislature sits at 24 percent in the Fairleigh Dickinson poll.
