KYW Flashback: Botched Search For Children In Camden
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It was a warm day, just 10 years ago when Camden neighbors heard the anguished screams of a father.
After days of searching that had involved 150 officers and volunteers, David Agosta opened the trunk of a battered car, parked in his back yard and discovered the bodies of his son and two playmates.
Searchers had looked everywhere. One officer had even begun to comb the car but was called away after a false report that the boys had been found.
The 3 boys - the oldest was 11, the youngest 5 - had apparently climbed in and became trapped.
They may have lived 13 to 17 hours after the trunk closed. In a final note, 5 years ago, Camden settled a law suit by the parents who blamed the city for a botched search.
