Pennsylvania Turnpike To End Usual Tolls At Jersey Crossing

BRISTOL, Pa. (AP) — It's the end of the tolls as we know it.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike will replace traditional toll collection with all-electronic tolling at the Delaware River Bridge, which connects Bristol, Pennsylvania, with Burlington Township, New Jersey.

The turnpike commission says motorists will no longer stop to pay tolls at the crossing, beginning in January 2016. They will pay the toll with their E-ZPass account or will get a bill in the mail after their license plate is photographed.

The commission says the new system will reduce travel times, improve safety and reduce auto emissions.
