New Sleep Guidelines Released

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Are you getting enough sleep?

The American Thoracic Society issued new recommendations Monday.

They suggest seven to nine hours a night for adults.

Sleeping more than that could be an indicator of issues such as depression, but sleeping less is also linked to various health problems.

The Society also recommends all drivers receive sleep education to combat the problem of drowsy driving.

The new sleep guidelines are published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
