Wednesday's Child: Jesenia

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —- Jesenia loves music, which she demonstrated by singing a bit of "Someone Like You," by Adele, for us.  She sings in her church choir and wants to learn how to play the piano.

Jesenia says a singing career is a far-off dream, but she thinks about a more down-to-earth vocation, too.

"I want to be a child advocate, because I think I could help other kids," she says.  "Because some kids go through what I used to go through, and I think I could help them a lot."

But for now she's focused on her hobbies, one of which is cheerleading.

"(We do) dancing routines and stuff, and I help coach the little kids."

Her social worker, Jacqueline DeMarco, says Jesenia needs a loving, permanent family:

"Jesenia is so ready to be with a family right now.  It's what she wants more than anything."

For more information about adopting Jesenia or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's  web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
