While Heavy Rains Move Out, Showers To Remain Through The Work Week

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new month, a new weather story!

Philadelphia, as well as other parts of the Delaware Valley, received more rainfall in one day on the first of June than it did the entire month of May. After an abnormally dry month, June will continue to start off on a much wetter foot.

Philadelphia saw 1.96" of rain yesterday, easily surpassing May's total of 1.19". Here are some other locations:

Things have quieted down significantly after Monday saw some wild weather across the region, including numerous severe thunderstorms and even an unconfirmed tornado. The storms contained high winds, hail, and torrential downpours, leading to numerous storm reports and several flood warnings. The heavy rains are a thing of the past today; however, there will still be scattered showers around, a common theme as we progress through the work week. As this frontal boundary struggles to fully push away, it will bring primarily cloudy skies and a chance of a shower each day into the weekend.
