WOGL's Harvey Holiday Joins Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk Of Fame

Exciting news! Our sister-station, WOGL's own Harvey Holiday is one the 2015  Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame's Class of inductees!

Harvey, who also joins the late legendary jazz singer, songwriter and Philadelphia native Billie Holiday (no relation), The Roots, The Trammps, Andrea McArdle, Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel, and Cinderella, will be formally inducted on October 26 during an afternoon ceremony along the Avenue of the Arts and along with an evening grand gala.

Harvey's honor is part of the Philadelphia Music Alliance's effort to shed new light on Philadelphia's  cultural legacy and incredible contribution to the world of music past, present and future as a major tourist attraction. This agenda to recognize more local music greats in all genres is part of the community based, non-profit organization's overall mission to encourage the creation, celebration and historical preservation of Philadelphia music, and the foundation of a renewed commitment to schedule induction ceremonies each year. Harvey, who thought he was attending a client meeting for WOGL, was completely taken by surprise upon hearing the news.

"It's very humbling to be with all these other great artists and radio personalities," he said. "I'm almost speechless. It's just an honor. Years from now, my grandkids and their kids can walk down Broad Street and they'll see my name. It's a nice feeling."

"Harvey Holiday is a legend in Philadelphia who we're very, very fortunate to have as the tentpole at WOGL," said WOGL station general manager Jim Loftus. "He's the one who brought this music to Philadelphia, he's the one who keeps this music in Philadelphia. Whether you listen to him Sunday night on his Street Corner Sunday show or everyday when he entertains over one million people across the Delaware Valley, we're very lucky to have Harvey Holiday entertaining all of Philadelphia as well as all across the world at WOGL"

Harvey who is celebrating his 50th year as a disc jockey in the Delaware Valley, has been keeping doo-wop and soul alive at WOGL since 1989.  You can listen to Harvey weekdays from 9:00 am-2:00 pm, which includes the All-Request Hot Lunch at noon. You can also tune in for Streetcorner Sunday every Sunday night from 9:00 pm-midnight.
