Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame To Induct 7 New Members

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tonight, The Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame will add seven new members.

One of them is Dr. Joel Fish. He may not be an athlete, but the renowned sports psychologist has had a tremendous impact on the lives of amateur and professional athletes for 30 years.

He says his goal is to get to know the individual who plays a sport:

"And if I can help that person either with the sport part, that's the mental skills part, or the psychology part, anything in that athletes personal life that can be impacting on their performance, I believe can help them as a person as well as an athlete and it's teaching the life skills that's most meaningful for me."

Dr. Fish will be inducted in a ceremony at the Gershman Y on South Broad Street.

Among the six other inductees are agent Arn Tellem, sportswriter Franz Lidz and the late Norm Constantine, former Nittany Lion Mascot.
