A new study says drinking coffee right when you wake up is actually counter-productive.

That’s because we have a natural hormone that helps us stay more alert, and it peaks when you wake up. So, if you drink coffee immediately in the morning, the hormone isn’t as effective.

Scientists recommend you wait about an hour after you wake up, and they say the same rules apply even if you have an odd schedule.
