HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) — A loose cow who snarled traffic along a busy New Jersey highway Friday morning has died, police said.

The cow wandered onto the New Jersey Route 29 northbound ramp from I-295 south in Hamilton Township, Mercer County at about 9 a.m.

House of Meat in Trenton says the cow escaped from their facility.

Police and animal control officers were called to the scene in an attempt to corral the cow.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene where it showed the cow on the side of the road near a guardrail.

Investigators did not immediately say how the cow died.
