GoFundMe Site Set Up For Acclaimed Philly Chef Injured In Amtrak Derailment

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A GoFundMe account has been set up for a famed Philadelphia chef who was apparently on board the Amtrak train that derailed nearly two weeks ago.

Chef Eli Kulp, of High Street on Market and Fork, was reportedly headed home to his family on the night of the accident.

According to the GoFundMe page, Kulp was in the first row of the second car of the train and was thrown during the crash, resulting in a "severe spinal cord injury."

Family members say he's now in a rehab facility and has "a very long road" to recovery ahead.

So far, the GoFundMe account has raised more than $2,000 that will reportedly go towards Kulp's medical bills.

A few days ago, Kulp tweeted a thank you to his well-wishers:

The Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia killed eight people and injured hundreds more on May 12th. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
