Fire At Refinery In South Philadelphia Placed Under Control

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Crews responded to the scene of a one-alarm a fire at a refinery in South Philadelphia Friday evening.

Officials said the one-alarm fire broke out at Philadelphia Energy Solutions Girard Point refinery on the 3000 block of Penrose Avenue around 5:40 p.m.

The fire was caused by a mechanical failure of a pump seal and crude oil was burning, officials said.

There are no reported injuries.

The fire was placed under control around 6:30 p.m.
