Cops: 19 Guns Stolen During Break-In At Gun Store In Delaware County

By Steve Beck and Alexandria Hoff

COLLINGDALE, Pa. (CBS) -- Police are searching for the suspects who stole more than a dozen handguns from a gun store in Delaware County Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. at the Suburban Armory gun store on MacDade Boulevard in Collingdale.

According to investigators, three suspects gained entry to the business by kicking out the store's front glass window.

Once inside, police say the suspects smashed the glass on several display cases.

According to police, the suspects stole 19 guns -- including glocks, revolvers and semi automatic weapons  -- in less than three minutes.

Surveillance video from a nearby store shows two vehicles working together, signaling to each other through headlights, according to police.

Chief Robert Adams of Collingdale Police says, "At 4:11:45, I have them on police station video driving past the police station at Clifton and McDade. So they were in the store like two and a half minutes."

The gun store is located only a few blocks from the Collingdale Boro Police Department building.

The suspects then fled the scene in two separate cars and remain on the loose.

A resident says, "It saddens me that something happened in our community and there's more guns on the streets. Possibly more lives will be lost."

To prevent that, police are hoping someone recognizes the two vehicles: a silver and white GM sedan and a dark colored Ford Windstar.

Chief Adams says, "You don't know where they are going to end up. I don't know tomorrow if one of my family members is going to be shot. Is one of yours going to be shot? Now there are 18 more guns on the street."

Investigators say they were able to obtain fingerprints from the scene and they expect to release surveillance video soon.

This marks the third time in eight years that the Suburban Armory gun store has been robbed.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Collingdale Boro Police Department.
