PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The heat and humidity of recent history is a thing of the past on Wednesday, with highs only reaching the low 70s.

Some morning clouds are expected to thin by the afternoon and yield to sunshine, with a breeze out of the northwest. As high pressure continues to ease into place, we are looking for a mainly tranquil march towards Memorial Day. I say mainly because we will have a close encounter with a storm to our south tomorrow.

As the leading edge of this system tries to nudge it’s way north, it will run into the high pressure currently in place. Still, clouds will dominate for the majority of the day, with southernmost areas of the region (Delaware and South Jersey) likely seeing some rain showers from it.

Friday through Sunday are looking fantastic, with comfortable temperatures and lots of sunshine. The heat begins to creep back into the picture by Memorial Day, with a shower or thunderstorm possible as well.
