Police Investigating After Jogger Attacked In Delaware Park

By Cleve Bryan

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Newark Police are asking for help identifying a man who grabbed and groped a female graduate student out jogging Tuesday morning.

Police say the 25-year-old victim went for a run in Rittenhouse Park around 8 a.m., entering through a trail at the end of Park Drive.

They say she ran past a man, got an uneasy feeling and when she turned around to go back the way she came, he lunged at her.

"Grabbed her waist and rear end area and she was able to break away. She ran home and called the police," says Cpl. James Spadola who says the victim was not hurt.

He says a K-9 team and other officers searched the area but couldn't find the suspect.

He is described as a white male around 30-years-old with dark hair and a bushy beard. He was wearing a red plain shirt and khaki pants and carrying a blue bag. He might be homeless.
