Acting Head of Stockton University Agrees To Stay On Amid Upheaval

GALLOWAY, N.J. (CBS) -- Stockton University won't have to scramble to find a new president: the institution's acting head is remaining on, instead of taking a new position in Maine.
Things have not been easy at Stockton. Its deal to acquire the old Showboat casino as a satellite campus is mired in legal troubles, even as efforts continue to work them out.
President Herman Saatkamp is on medical leave, and will step down next year.
Acting president Dr. Harvey Kesselman was about to move on himself, but is now opting to remain at Stockton, where he has been for more than four decades.
"Our board of trustees asked that I stay, to steward the institution through these times," he told KYW Newsradio today.
Kesselman's latest move will allow for a thorough national search for a successor to Saatkamp. Kesselman says he would like to be considered for the job -- when the time is right.
